Andrew Harding’s Lane Beach is a neighborhood beach where swimming is not allowed due to the strong undertow. Gaining access can be challenging see; “Parking” below. The grade to the water is gradual with wave-size varying. Seaweed and shells have accumulated from past high-tides; at the water’s edge pebbles and shells have accumulated.

Parking is available on Bridge Street (Lighthouse Beach would be a shorter walk once parked) and requires parking passes between July 1st and Labor Day, 9am to 5pm (read posted signs). Lighthouse park and shuttle is available on Main Street.
Non-residents or visitors may purchase a non-resident pass at another beach or at the Harbormaster’s Office (613 Stage Harbor Road, 8:30am to 5:30pm daily).
$20 daily; $75 weekly; or $175 seasonal
Resident beach stickers can be purchased at the Sticker (permit) Office:
261 George Ryder Road, rear of building, lower level $25 first sticker, $20 second sticker

Surfing/Kayaking/Paddle Boarding

“No person shall use rafts, rubber tubes, any floatation device, or scuba gear as swimming accessories in a designated swim area, except for rescue and U.S. Coast Guard approved type floatation Life Jackets.” If operating boats, wind surfers, water skis or similar may not be conducted within 150 feet of swim areas.

Water Quality

Water quality is monitored from Memorial Day to Labor Day. For more information please call (617) 626-1250. The accepted standard is 104 CFU/100mL in a single day or an average of 35 CFU/100mL over five days. The link below is the test results from 2003 to the current year.
