Colonial Acres Beach is located on Lewis Bay and is great for watching the Hyannis-Nantucket ferries, fishing boats, and yachts travel by. The draw to this beach is its seclusion; limited parking equals limited crowds. The wooden bridge that leads from the parking area to the beach adds to the charm. Sand has a heavy mix of crushed shells and pebbles with thin bands of seaweed scattered across the beach. At the water’s edge a thick band of each is left behind from the tides. The grade to the water gradual and is warm for a New England beach; waves are small with the exception of boat wakes.
