Drakes Island Beach is located off Island Beach Road in Wells, Maine. The entrance areas of the beach have a “community feel” in the summer time as many of the people are “regulars” and arrive early. Most of the crowds are located near the parking areas; as you move away from the beach entrances space is more plentiful. The large rock jetty near the Foster Lane entrance allows for fishing, exploration, or a scenic view of Wells Beach. The waves are on the larger side ideal for adults, teens, and supervised children to have fun in. A mile walk away from the jetty entrance is Laudholm Beach, where people are few and the wildlife is untouched due The Wells Reserve and the Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge.
