Hole in the Wall Beach is difficult to find since there’s signage for Niantic Bay Boardwalk across the street. Located off Main Street, it’s located next to an ice cream shop and across the street from Charter Oak Credit Federal Union. The beach is encompassed by a one mile boardwalk and McCook Point. A stone jetty abuts the boardwalk area; this area is mostly free of seaweed and has minimal pebbles and crushed shells mixed in the sand with a greater concentration at the water’s edge. The McCook Point end of the beach has a higher concentration of seaweed, rocks, and crushed shells. The slope to the water is gradual and easy to navigate; waves are minimal due to the Long Island Sound.
