Kalmus Beach
Kalmus Beach offers large ocean and bay beach areas, each accessible from the parking area. Beach sand is coarse in both sections of beach with large amounts of crushed shells, pebbles, and dried seaweed. The entry to the water is easy with the mild decent to the water’s edge, although the ocean side of the beach can have a high accumulation of shells. Both beach areas have seaweed at the water’s edge and in the water, with the ocean side having heavier amounts from the tides. Kalmus Beach is considered one of the better windsurfing areas in the Cape region due to the off-shore breezes the ocean side of the beach receives. The bay beach has lake-like water with the exception of boat wakes.
