Ogunquit Beach is located at the end of Beach Street in Ogunquit, Maine. Ogunquit Beach’s name originates from Native Americans and means “beautiful place by the sea.” The beach offers over three miles of white sand, with a peninsula at the mouth of the Ogunquit River where the majority of the amenities are offered. On the most crowded days during high-tide there is always a spot to available to relax; parking is the most difficult part of the beach experience if arriving late in the day. The waves vary by area; mid-sized to larger waves in beach areas facing the Atlantic Ocean, and mild to calm for beach areas facing the Ogunquit River. Entry to the water is gradual and mostly debris free, perfect for kids and anyone looking to walk along the beach. Rentals are available on-site for chairs, umbrellas, and boogie boards along with nearby food to bring back to the beach. Ogunquit has a large “art colony”; with many galleries and boutiques lining Main Street only a few minutes walk away.
