Popham Beach State Park is located off Route 209 in Phippsburg Maine. This hidden treasure has a unique landscape that will keep adults and kids entertained for a great day at the beach. The beach is huge, scenic, has access to Fox Islands by way of a sandbar during low tide and plenty of driftwood and sand to make sculptures with. High and low tides offers quite a different beach experience, check the tide schedule to make the most of your trip if coming from a far distance.

Hours Of Operation

Open 365 days a year, from 9am to sunset. During winter months no attendant on duty although, an honor system is in place.

The huge parking lot fills up fast on warm spring, summer, and fall days.
Ages 12-64 $4 residents $6 non-residents per person
Ages 5-11 $1 residents and non-residents
Ages 5 and under are free
Ages 65 and older free for residents $2 non-residents
Veteran residents free
Handicap parking is available. During winter months the parking lot is plowed with the exception of holidays.

Life Guard Schedule

Lifeguards are on site during summer months.

Primarily a carry in/carry out facility, food vendors are available within 15 minutes driving.

Hotels/motels and rentals are within 15-20 minutes driving with campgrounds nearby.

Pets are not allowed from April 1 to September 30.

Picnic tables are available off the beach.

No designated playground; however there are grassy areas off the beach near the bathhouses.

Restrooms / Showers

The facilities are newer with showers for rinsing and water fountains available. Bathhouses are shut down around the third weekend in October.

Surfing/Kayaking/Paddle Boarding

Surfing and paddle sports are allowed check the tide schedule for ideal conditions.

Walking Trails

Perkins Farm Trail is a 1.2 mile walk to Fort Baldwin and nearby is Fort Popham and the archaeological site of Fort Saint George.
